ZACK LOBEL is a NYC-based video and lighting designer.

Merging his passion for live entertainment with his background in film, Zack builds dynamic experiences that activate and elevate theaters, museums, nightclubs, and beyond.

Zack serves as the Lighting Director for Omari Wiles’ Les Ballet Afrik, where he most recently designed the world premiere of the Bessie Award winning “New York is Burning” at the Guggenheim, followed by a run at the Joyce and American Dance Festival.

He designs visuals for world-class DJs and music producers at the historic Webster Hall in NYC. Other highlights include his collaborations with Hilton Als as part his performance series at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, and the international premiere of the The MasterZ At Work Dance Family presented in Spain as part of Works & Process at the Guggenheim Bilbao.

He recently made his Lincoln Center design debut with the Underground Uptown Dance Festival at Alice Tully Hall (Lighting Designer, 2024).

His work has been seen at venues such as The Public UTR, Guggenheim, Signature, New Ohio, Ma-Yi, McKittrick (Sleep No More), Irondale, 3 Dollar Bill, among others. He is an Associate Artist with Fault Line Theatre Company.

He’s served as an associate for designers including Cha See, Barbara Samuels, Tuçe Yasak, Zach Blane, Calvin Anderson, at venues such as Roundabout, Berkeley Rep, NYTW, Target Margin, and others.

Zack is on staff at Sarah Lawrence College as the Production Manager for the Dance Department.

He is a graduate of Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT.
